At the border: what officers check
Filing the arrival card is step one. The final decision on entry always rests with the immigration officer at the counter - so it pays to know what else they look at.
What the TDAC does not do
Not permission to enter
An approved card records your details; it does not grant entry. Permission is decided by the immigration officer.
Not a visa
The card never replaces a visa. If your nationality requires one, you need it in addition to the card.
Not a guarantee
A filed card helps the process run smoothly, but the officer can still ask questions and request documents.
What else officers may check

| Proof of funds | Officers can ask for evidence you can support yourself - cash or cards; a figure of 10,000 THB per traveller is commonly cited |
| First night's address | The accommodation address from your arrival card - keep the booking confirmation handy. The address can be cross-checked against the TM30 form filed by your host, so keep the two consistent |
| Visa / VOA documents | If you hold a visa or use visa on arrival, the approval and fee payment flow separately from the card |
These checks are at the officer's discretion - most travellers are waved through quickly when documents are in order.
Tips for a fast queue
- File the card early in your 72-hour window - not in the departure hall.
- Keep the confirmation email on your phone, plus a screenshot or print.
- Have your passport, boarding pass and first-night address reachable without digging.
- Travelling as a family? Make sure every member's card is filed - one missing card slows the whole group.
- The confirmation is a QR-coded email - show it at the counter. Thai airports are also rolling out facial-recognition gates; long-stay visa holders are advised to use staffed counters.
